“Amazing hike up the volcano! Incredible opportunity to hike through varied landscapes and see the eruptions. Hike is hard (I’ve run easier marathons!) - I only had one day in Antigua to acclimatise so would recommend another day if someone’s travel schedule allows! The bus from the town was chaotic as left an hour later than scheduled and then stopped to pick up food, water and cold weather gear for those that were renting it. This took ages and we felt like they could have organised this when you booked or when we were waiting to leave town! That said it’s the best hike you will ever do, great value…”

Overnight Adventure Hike Acatenango Volcano

5.Overnight Adventure Hike Acatenango Volcano

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 151 reviews · 2 days (approx.) · from $84

Hike from Antigua up Acatenango’s volcanic slopes, spend the night camping under the stars, and return the next day. The $84 trip includes sleeping gear, gloves, sweaters, and breakfast on day two. Guides Angell and Rogelio have earned praise, but group size and organization can vary.

“I was really excited about this experience—the opportunity to hike a volcano with like-minded adventurers. When I arrived at the office, I was surprised by how many people were there. I initially assumed there were multiple groups, but it quickly became clear that things were chaotic from the start. There was very little instruction, and people were essentially told to get in where they fit in. My group ended up being 40+ people for what was supposed to be a 16-person hike. The guides appeared to be very young and, unfortunately, didn’t seem to have the experience needed to manage such a large and varied group. We were never informed…”

“Absolutely loved this tour and could not have asked for better service. We booked super last minute for a spontaneous trip to Guatemala so I was a bit worried things wouldn’t work out but I quickly became reassured by the ease of communication from the company. Sebastian was very friendly and happy to answer all of my questions. The lady working at the front desk was also super helpful advising us on what to pack and also lent us some warm clothes including jumpers, beanies and gloves. Our guides David and Willy truly made the experience extra special. They walked at our pace and were always supportive when the track…”

11.From Antigua Guatemala: Birdwatching and Scenic Hiking Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.2 · 9 reviews · 3h 30m · from $95

Meet in Antigua for a guided birdwatching and hiking outing at Finca El Pilar. Monica may lead you through lower forest trails and uphill pine-oak paths, with binoculars provided. Expect birds, plants, volcano views, and a solid workout rather than an easy stroll.
