Spain hides its best walking behind the coast: gorge pools an hour from Valencia, volcanic Tenerife, the sierras above Granada and Barcelona. These 15 are priced and timed, with a note on which ones run through the summer heat.
Travel from Valencia to Montanejos for a guided 9-kilometer hike beside the Mijares River, the powerful Chorro water jet, and free time at the 23°C Fuentes de los Baños pools. Guides such as Manu, Nouha, Paco, and Miguel have led recent departures, though the team may vary.

“Loved the trip to Caminito del Rey! Everything was really well organised and the guides were excellent – knowledgeable and attentive. Before the hike, food options are very limited (just a busy restaurant and a small shop with water, crisps and ice cream), so it’s worth bringing your own. After the walk the atmosphere was great with stalls and refreshments, though we only had 15 minutes there and would’ve liked a bit more. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended!”
Walk roughly 7 to 9 kilometers through Timanfaya’s volcanic terrain with guides such as Ula, Alejandro, or Sabrina. Expect craters, lava fields, frequent photo stops, clear explanations in English or Spanish, and optional hotel pickup. The route is mostly easy, but loose gravel calls for solid shoes.

Join a small group of up to eight from Granada and hike Los Cahorros de Monachil with guides such as Julio or Marcello. Expect river scenery, suspension bridges, a narrow tunnel, uphill sections, and helpful photo stops. The 6.5-kilometer route takes about three hours.

Walk about 7.5 to 8 kilometers through Lanzarote’s Volcanos Natural Park with guides such as Raquel and José. Expect a volcano summit, crater views, lava fields, geology, plants, wildlife, and island history, plus hotel pickup, water, and light snacks.

Walk 7.7 kilometers along Andalusia’s restored Caminito del Rey, with entrance tickets, a helmet, audio system, insurance, and an English or Spanish guide included. Expect cliffside paths about 100 meters above the river, dramatic gorge views, and a separate return transfer from the finish.

Ride the cable car to La Rambleta, then follow your official guide up rocky Trail 10 toward Teide’s 3,718-meter summit. Guides such as Miriam, Benjamin, and Dario explain the volcano’s geology and keep the group moving safely. Transport from north Tenerife may be included.
“Spectacular landscape and climb from the top station to the summit. Our guide was amazing with a wealth of knowledge and great sense of humor. We couldn’t have asked for better weather with a breathtaking view of not only the caldera, and Tenerife italef bit of the neighbouring islands and even El Hierro in the distance. Well worth the effort to get to the top. The walk to the viewing point of Pico Viejo was excellent to. A beautiful crater. Highly recommended”
Leave Barcelona in an air-conditioned minivan with a guide such as James, Alan, or David. Ride up Montserrat by cable car or funicular, visit the basilica and monastery, then take an easy but mostly downhill mountain walk. Small groups, early timing, and wide views make this a practical day out.

Travel from Tenerife’s south coast to Mount Teide National Park in a small group of 2 to 10. A guide such as Steffi leads the final 170-meter hike after your cable-car ride, with summit permits, transport, and return tickets included. Bring warm layers, water, snacks, and sturdy shoes.

Join Marcello, Julio, or another English-speaking guide for a 6.5-kilometer walk through Los Cahorros near Granada. Expect suspension bridges, waterfalls, tunnels, narrow passages, local plants, and private minibus transport. Hiking poles are available on request, and the group is limited to eight.
