Leave Cali at 7 a.m. with a local guide, stop in La Voragine, then hike through the Pance mountains to three waterfalls and natural pools. The six-person limit keeps the pace personal. Lunch, transport, entrance, and medical assistance are included.

“Alejandro, our guide, is extremely friendly, well informed, committed to his community's well-being, and persistent in making sure everyone is able to understand, feels comfortable, and respects the environment. The trek was invigorating and fun. We saw beautiful fauna and flora -- especially butterflies! The lunch was scrumptious. The whole tour came off smoothly, from coordination and pick up to drop off. The length was just right for us, as we wanted to get out of the city, see the mountainous forest (including old growth!) but hadn't planned such a trip in advance and did not have gear necessary for something more strenuous.”

6.Bogota: Hike to La Chorrera Waterfall, El Chiflón and Guadalupe Hill

★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · 8 reviews · 6 hours · from $115

Travel from Bogotá into the Eastern Cordillera for a private guided hike to El Chiflón and La Chorrera, Colombia’s highest waterfall at 590 meters. Afterward, stop at Guadalupe Hill for broad city views. Expect uneven trails, changing weather, and a driver who may provide limited guiding.

“It was very nice to have a private driver and set my own schedule. The waterfalls themselves are spectacular. Must-see for a visit to Bogota, which is not exactly a naturalist's dream. The car and driver were clean and elegant. My only complaint is communication. It was hard to reach the driver by phone. I would have appreciated more information about what to expect. He was a driver, not a docent. You will have a great time, just ask a lot of questions... Don't expect to be told!”
