Tayrona Park Hike And Beach Day

1.Tayrona Park Hike And Beach Day

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 91 reviews · 10 hours (approx.) · from $211Our pick

Hike from El Zaino through Tayrona’s jungle to Arrecifes, La Piscina, and Cabo San Juan with a private English-speaking guide. Guides such as Hugo, Erik, David, César, and Andres tailor the pace, spot monkeys and birds, explain Indigenous culture, and arrange beach time and lunch.

“Fantastic tour - well worth the time and effort. Wouldn’t want to do this hike without a guide - we learned so much about the park, the indigenous tribes and the wildlife. David was amazing and fun to be with all day. If you are worried about the hike, it is completely doable. There are some climbs in the beginning, but it’s mostly flat and some very muddy spots closer to Cabo San Juan. Bring cash to spend along the way - there are many opportunities for popsicles, fresh coconut, fresh juice, restaurants, etc along the route. Also: Cabo San Juan itself is over crowded and over-rated. Do as David…”

“Alejandro, our guide, is extremely friendly, well informed, committed to his community's well-being, and persistent in making sure everyone is able to understand, feels comfortable, and respects the environment. The trek was invigorating and fun. We saw beautiful fauna and flora -- especially butterflies! The lunch was scrumptious. The whole tour came off smoothly, from coordination and pick up to drop off. The length was just right for us, as we wanted to get out of the city, see the mountainous forest (including old growth!) but hadn't planned such a trip in advance and did not have gear necessary for something more strenuous.”

“Firstly, the tour itself is worth doing. The valley is beautiful, the ride in the Willy's Jeep fun and the lunch was excellent. My gripe is with the organisation. I was sat in Heathrow Airport last week when my Whatsapp went. "Where was I?" I pointed out my ticket said the 10th, not the 3rd. No problem. Turned up early on the 10th, showed my ticket. Alarm bells went off when the guide didn't seem to speak any English, but assumed there'd be a change when we got to the site. Half way to the Valley, guide asks for my mobile number and the office tell me they don't have…”

“We learned a lot on the hike to sisiguaca. We did the snorkeling without the guide he just told us where to go to see everything, it was an amazing experience. We enjoyed a fresh fish meal with plantain chips, coconut rice, and salad. It was around 60,000 pesos for two of us to each get a fish and sides. Had an amazing time and the guide was very nice. However, I do think you could do this on your own, follow the path and take some goggles and the mouth piece to snorkel. Either way it was a great time!”

“It was very nice to have a private driver and set my own schedule. The waterfalls themselves are spectacular. Must-see for a visit to Bogota, which is not exactly a naturalist's dream. The car and driver were clean and elegant. My only complaint is communication. It was hard to reach the driver by phone. I would have appreciated more information about what to expect. He was a driver, not a docent. You will have a great time, just ask a lot of questions... Don't expect to be told!”
